Your Successful & Happy Career in Vet Medicine

VetX:Thrive exists because we believe being a vet can and should be the best job ever. But we also know that the challenges you face in practice each day can take their toll and leave you feeling burned out or disenfranchised. The reality is that being a vet is also a hard job and the clinical training you received at vet school is simply not enough to ensure a great career.

In fact, there is another skill set that is so much more important. The non-clinical skills (or life skills as we call them) are things like emotional intelligence, the smarts to say the right word and the right time, the ability to manage your time. These, and many besides are the skills that will provide you with the foundation for a happy and healthy career as a vet.

VetX:Thrive teaches these skills exclusively. But this is so much more than an educational platform. This is a toolkit where you will have access to templates, frameworks and worksheets to help you build and execute your plan. Plus you'll be part of a global support network - a place of positive encouragement.

And finally, you'll be learning in a RACE and Vetted accredited community where you can get 12 hours of structured education credit.

What You'll Learn

VetX:Thrive combines teaching, practical tools and live group mentoring and community support into one experience so you can develop your skills effectively and safely with your peers. At the heart of the VetX:Thrive program are our outstanding non-clinical skills training modules and associated toolkits. A recognised expert in their field delivers each session. These training modules build consecutively to teach you the tools, mental judo and skills essential to your success and happiness. You can find the full training schedule below.

FAQ

Your most common questions answered

  • How is VetX:Thrive different from other veterinary support services?

VetX Thrive is the only place you will find the educational content Dr Dave Nicol has created. It's tailored specifically to the veterinary associates and has helped hundreds, if not thousands of vets like you to enjoy their work.

  • Do I get any CE/CPD points for my membership in the community?

Absolutely. Members can submit a minimum of 12 hours of approved CE/CPD as part of their membership.

  • How do the live mentoring sessions work?

Our live sessions are primarily for helping you to achieve your objectives. So we encourage you to submit your challenge ahead of time so your mentor can prepare you the best answer possible. During our live sessions, all community members can attend and listen. We find this to be very useful as many of the challenges faced by members are shared. So you can easily apply what someone is learning to your own issue. Successful questions receive 10-20 minutes of one2one coaching in the group meeting room. Fellow members will be able to attend and learn from the answer to your question. Questions are handled on a first come, first served basis, but we do prioritise “emergency” questions if necessary. Our live events are held in a secure online meeting room. You will receive a link to this meeting room which you can attend using your computer, phone or tablet. Recordings of all live events are available to listen again in the membership area.

  • Can I join at any point in the year?

Yes, our systems open up access to our monthly non-clinical skills training modules automatically from the date of admission. Plus, on registration, you’ll have instant access to all our back catalogue of recordings and the Facebook community.

  • How long does my VetX:Thrive membership last?

If you opt for a 12-month membership, then you will have access to all of the community content and Facebook group for 365 days. The option to extend your membership should wish to remain a member will be given. If you select a monthly payment option, your subscription will be payable for a minimum of 12 months, but it will continue until you tell us you no longer wish to be part of the community.

  • What happens if I want to cancel my membership?

All members can try the community risk-free for the first 30 days of their membership. If, during this time, you decide the community does not meet your needs, then just let us know, and we will arrange a prompt refund. After this period has elapsed, you will be committed to a minimum of a further 11 months. (We are very confident though that you will love being a member and see the enormous value in being part of this remarkable group.) After your initial 12 month membership period, if you wish to cancel you will merely have to give us a one-month notice.

  • Can I remain a member if I move jobs or countries?

We are pleased for you to remain a member regardless of your role or location on planet earth. How this works is very much between the person who pays for the course and you. So, we recommend a discussion with your previous or new employer, so your access is unimpeded. Remember, many practices will happily fund your place in VetX:Thrive as it offers incredible value for money in reaching the required CE/CPD hours. We can be very flexible to meet your needs; email us for help.

  • I’m over five years qualified, is VetX:Thrive still of value to me?

Yes, yes, yes! We have members who have been vets for more than 30 years! If this is you, then you also have an abundant life experience to share with the VetX:Thrive community, and we would welcome you with open arms. We believe that non-clinical skills, support and networking should be available to all.

  • Do you teach any clinical skills in the VetX:Thrive community?

No, our Rockstar Sessions might have a clinical flavour. But the core of the community are the foundational non-clinical or life skills because we believe these to be the determinants of success and happiness in practice.
